Poppy & Aster

American, Fusion, Casual diner, Confort Food
Wan Chai’s Poppy & Aster Is the Sheung Wan Favourite, Now Serving Nights If you loved Poppy in Sheung Wan and the smaller, equally addictive Aster by Poppy, good news: the two are teaming up. Poppy & Aster is now in Wan Chai, bringing that same punchy, saucy comfort-food energy—but with a refreshed European slant and Asian twists. Expect a lunch set that’s fast, flavour-forward, and very “I’ll just have one more bite,” with chicken, beef, and fish burgers on rotation. Then the night service kicks in from 6pm to 10pm, keeping the vibe going with a similar menu to the original Sheung Wan spot.
What makes it extra interesting for Hong Kong eaters? The kitchen leans modern European with regional influences, so you’ll see crowd-pleasers like rusa toast, drunken prawn, squid “bolognese,” and chicken rice finished with Sichuan spice sauce. The Wan Chai menu also deviates slightly from the original—so new Asian-inspired European dishes are likely to drop as the team settles in. Add the chef pedigree behind the concept (Ronald Nelson) and this feels like a move made for food people who actually track openings, queues, and what’s new on the menu.
