Asian Food
Yuan is here

Casual diner, Basic seating, Asian, Traditional
Authentic Taiwanese cuisine in Hong Kong has been elusive, almost like a myth. However, with the opening of Yuan is Here—recently relocated from Sai Ying Pun to Kennedy Town—that’s changed. This popular street-food chain, with a substantial following in Taiwan, brings a slice of Taiwanese street food culture to Hong Kong. The exterior stays true to its roots, complete with an address plate styled like a Taipei street sign, mirroring what you might see at Taiwan’s night markets. Even at 2pm, there’s still a significant queue outside, so we quickly place our orders for the recommended dishes and wait eagerly. The interior, filled with memorabilia and buzzing with the energy of a night market, reflects the vision of its Taiwan-born owner. To ensure authenticity, some ingredients are directly imported from his hometown. The signature dish, minced braised pork rice, is rich in flavor with a melt-in-the-mouth texture. The traditional double egg oyster omelette is both chewy and full of eggy goodness. For dessert, the taro ball sweet soup is a must-try.
