HK Tipster (Benoit)EditorialistHong Kong’s oldest Italian restaurant, La Taverna, is serving up a full-on spring flex with “The Italian Collection”—a
5-course dining journey inspired by Italy’s creative powerhouses: fashion, design, art, and automotive craftsmanship.
Running across April and May, the menu turns culinary technique into something you can almost see—textures, silhouettes,
and sculpture-style plating included. You start with Tartare di Manzo al Coltello, topped with Parmigiano cream, paired with a rye crisp styled
like folded “tessuto” and served on a slate “runway.” Expect a Franciacorta Brut pour to kick things off.
Next is the design-meets-architecture moment: Risotto al Lime with succulent prawns, finished with a pistachio “polvere”
that brings the look of modern Italian interiors. Then the automotive chapter—because yes, food can be tire-tread dramatic:
Tortello di Brasato al Barolo with Castelmagno fondue and a coffee-powder dusting, tied back to La Taverna’s Ferrari roots in HK.Art fans get the spotlight with Pesce Spada in Crosta di Olive Nere: swordfish in a black olive crust, celeriac purée,
and caper “splash,” with an Etna Rosso pairing to deepen the drama. The finale is all geometry and glow:
Cubo di Cioccolato Fondente with orange-rosemary gel and a mascarpone sphere—rounded out with Passito di Pantelleria.Price: HK$788 per person. Venue: La Taverna (G/F, Astoria Building, 36–38 Ashley Road, Tsim Sha Tsui).
Chef Angelo Vecchio curates the concept. Available until 31 May 2026; reservations recommended. - AuthorPosts
