Cantina: Italian Elegance in the Heart of Tai Kwun
Tai Kwun has quickly cemented itself as one of Central’s most sought-after dining destinations, and among its shining stars is Cantina, a modern ode to Italian cuisine. Helmed by executive chef Andrea Mura, this polished newcomer reimagines beloved Italian classics with a contemporary edge while staying true to the soulful ingredients and traditions of the peninsula.
The menu journeys through regional Italy, from handmade cavatelli with pork ribs and fennel sausage to risotto, thin-crust pizzas, and homestyle Sicilian stews like pollo alla stemperata. Designed for sharing, Cantina encourages a convivial dining experience, while the tasting menu offers a curated adventure across the chef’s signature plates.
Housed within the historic walls of the former Police Headquarters, Cantina makes full use of the colonial-style architecture. Preserved wooden floors and soaring French windows bring old-world charm, while glinting fixtures and textured walls add a sleek, modern touch. By day, sunlight floods the dining room, perfect for brunch overlooking the Parade Grounds. By night, the low, warm glow creates an inviting space for dinner or drinks with friends.
Between its beautifully executed dishes and its balance of history and modernity, Cantina is far more than its name — the Italian word for “canteen.” It is a place where guests can indulge in both tradition and innovation, making every meal a celebration of Italian warmth and sophistication.
