The Monster Building, nicknamed by locals, is not a single building but an E-shaped complex consisting of five connected structures: Oceanic Mansion, Fook Cheong Building, Montane Mansion, Yick Cheong Building, and Yick Fat Building. Constructed during the 1960s population boom, they provided government-subsidized housing for low-income residents, the upper floors served as residences while the lower floors housed shops selling tea, fish, and groceries. Due to its photogenic symmetry and striking architecture, the building has become a popular spot for photographer and has also been featured in several films, including Ghost in the Shell and Transformers.
