Leela: India’s Culinary Heritage Reimagined in Lee Gardens.
Leela, the latest creation of celebrated chef Manav Tuli, invites diners on a journey through India’s imperial culinary traditions with a modern twist. Nestled within Lee Garden Three, this refined destination takes its name from the Hindu concept of divine play, a fitting nod to its philosophy of blending tradition with innovation.
The interiors, designed by Andre Fu, are understated yet sophisticated, with subtle neoteric Indian flourishes and a balcony perfect for pre- or post-dinner drinks. The menu, however, is the true centerpiece—an ambitious exploration of India’s diverse regional cuisines. From street snacks elevated with finesse to rich, regal curries, each dish is crafted as a story on the plate.
Signature highlights include tandoori creations from the custom-built oven, the Badami French guinea fowl with its complex, gamey depth, and a tender monkfish curry that showcases both finesse and boldness. Yet the undisputed star is the smoked butter chicken—already destined to become a Hong Kong classic. Diners can even add theatre to the dish by opting for a whisky-flamed finish with Laphroaig, imparting a smoky richness that lingers on the palate.
Sourcing is just as thoughtful: ingredients are largely organic, GMO-free, and whenever possible, locally supplied. This commitment reflects not only a respect for sustainability but also Tuli’s dedication to quality at every stage.
With Leela, Manav Tuli delivers a sophisticated second act following the acclaim of Chaat, proving that Indian cuisine in Hong Kong can be simultaneously imperial, inventive, and irresistible.
