Kowloon Walled City Park

Historical experiences, Old Hong Kong, Botanical parks, Temaki
Kowloon Walled City Park is now a beautiful garden that preserves artefacts from the former Kowloon Walled City — a once lawless enclave for fugitives and criminal gangs throughout the 20th century. Despite Hong Kong’s dense urban landscape, the city has numerous hidden green spaces worth exploring. Among these is Kowloon Walled City Park, a Jiangnan-style garden that was once a maritime defense station in the 15th century before becoming a notorious semi-lawless space. The walled city was torn down in 1994 and reopened as a beautiful garden in 1995, featuring impressive water features, traditional gardens, and historical remnants of its storied past. If you’re exploring Kowloon, this park is a must-visit.
