Four Consecutive Pools

Sai Kung Rock Pools: Hong Kong’s Hidden Jungle Oasis Tucked deep within Sai Kung’s wild coastline, the famous Four Consecutive Pools offer one of Hong Kong’s most refreshing natural escapes. Flowing along a river that meets the sea at Sai Wan, these cascading rock pools form a stunning series of waterfalls surrounded by lush greenery. It’s no surprise this spot has become one of the most popular hiking destinations in Sai Kung—equal parts scenic, adventurous, and rewarding.
Reaching the pools can vary in difficulty depending on your route. The longer option follows the MacLehose Trail from Sai Kung Country Park, offering panoramic views but little shade along the way. A shorter and more popular route starts from Sai Wan, where a hidden trail leads you through vegetation and rocky terrain toward the pools. Along the way, you’ll encounter four distinct levels, with the final pool being the largest and most photogenic, complete with a waterfall that draws crowds on weekends.
While the pools are perfect for cooling off, caution is essential. Rocks can be slippery, water depth is uneven, and cliff jumping is strongly discouraged due to safety risks. Still, whether you’re here for a swim, photos, or simply to unwind in nature, this spot delivers a true escape from the city.
