The Hong Kong Palace Museum (HKPM), located in the West Kowloon Cultural District along the waterfront, is set to open on July 2, 2022, as part of the HKSAR’s 25th anniversary celebration. It features nine galleries showcasing Chinese art and culture, including ceramics, portraits, and more from the Ming and Qing dynasties. With nearly 5,000 years of history on display, some treasures will be exhibited for up to a year due to environmental factors. The museum will display 914 priceless treasures on loan from Beijing’s Palace Museum, including national treasures like paintings, ceramics, jade, and rare books. It aims to become a global cultural institution promoting dialogue among civilizations. Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust with HK$3.5 billion, the museum offers a Hong Kong perspective while fostering international partnerships.
